Enter the Tavern Farcaster Frame - March 2024
Raid Guild hacked on Frames, last Friday. Sam got it going on Thursday by asking, “anyone available for Frame hacking tomorrow?” In >24 hours, E2T had the Farcaster Frames breakdown, ready to begin hacking, and almost a dozen Raid Guild members joined a Discord voice channel.
Frames are like little portals to your project that are embedded in a social feed. They let readers push buttons from within a post, called cast on Warpcast, like a slideshow, where each page can have up to 4 buttons.
Raid Guild built a mini text game. Enter the tavern, meet characters and mint NFTs.
Try it out!
If you want to try building a Frame, here’s the docs.
The most common Frames provide a way to mint an NFT or subscribe to a newsletter. Frames is new enough, that if you have an idea, it probably hasn’t been made yet.
Today the excitement is about Frames, but not that long ago it was about channels. The Warpcast team is building at a fast pace and developer calls are open to the Farcaster community - a recipe for potential!
There’s nothing like an impromptu day of hacking on the newest tech, with some of the best builders in all of Web3, who you also happen to enjoy spending time with!
Friday’s hacking spanned across 8 hours, with pairs moving to separate voice channels and then returning. Everyone knew each other’s skills and temperaments, so work flowed fairly easily, with Plor as Dungeon Master, E2T as Obi-Wan, Dekan and Sam with the smart contract wizardry and ECWireless building the actual Frame.
I want a Mad Libs Frame, where each slide gives you 4 words to choose from and the last slide is a paragraph with the words you chose and an option to mint. Let’s tell an AI to give words and paragraphs in the flavor of Dungeons and Dragons.
